So yes, I officially snowboarded for the first time EVER! Something I truly thought I would never do BUT was given the opportunity today (THANK YOU ROUSH)!! And yes, going into the morning I knew I would be sore….and right now am moving as slow as a turtle (no pun intended…hahaha)….but it was WAY worth it and want to do it again :)! So enjoy my retarded video blog that straight cracks me up!!

An Article For Anyone Who Is or Has Been Injured

So, Emily Podschweit, a former volunteer of mine from 2 years ago in Chicago (along with her sister, Aubrey) had a season ending injury this past fall. She tore her ACL…something that is WAY common for most girls these days. Ironically, I did my master’s thesis on female athletes and knee injuries…ANYWAYS, she has been documenting her recovery (the good, the bad, the ugly) for the local paper and prepvolleyball.com. And in the last article, she used some of what I told her via email…talk about humbling. I am honored that she used what I said…and hope she continues to document her recovery and continues to write as she gets older. Great article Emily!!!

Other People’s Ixtapa Photos

I always love seeing how bad I look (or other people look…hehe) in my friends photos that they post after trips. Not only does it make me laugh, but it makes me reminder a tiny bit more why I liked a certain trip or why I did not like a certain trip!! Hahaha…Here are some photos from other people in Ixtapa…some are priceless and some are EWWWW PHILLIPS moments. Hahaha….

Happy Valuable Day TO ME…haha

So, another Valentine’s Day has come and gone….or should I say Valuable day…haha. This year was ACTION packed actually…from Disneyland/Disney California Adventure to practice with the Beach Babes & the 14 Mizuno team to dinner at yummo Javier’s with the Katie’s. GOOD TIMES. I am going to say the cliche line, “who needs a man”, but only in jest…cause I DON’T mean it…hahaha….

Bon Voyage

So, the last day was definitely bittersweet. Having breakfast at “our table” (the VBVer’s know what I mean by this one and the photos above is by Angela…amazing) was kinda a tease if you ask me!! Hahaha. And flying out of this location was breathtaking too (seriously if you have a chance to go to the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area….GO!!!! Great Week FOR SURE!!

A Perfect Day

So my fave day in Ixtapa had to be Thursday. We had the morning off so 6 of us headed over to Ixtapa isla. Before we took the water taxi we got see something that most people will never see in there life…salt water Croc’s in their “natural” habitat. Yea, seriously right? Makes ya think twice about venturing into the water…haha. The good thing is the crocs are well feed, so they rarely ever venture even onto the beach. let alone in the ocean.

After that we headed to the water taxi so we could get to Ixtapa Isla. Ixtapa Isla is a “touristy” place, but in the most tame way. There are beaches along the island with about 10 restaurants (per cove) where they catch the food and grill it for you there (if you like that sort of thing). And, for the record, I did try LOBSTER…it wasn’t TOO bad :)….After eating you could also go snorkeling or ride seadoo’s or banana boats…etc. So relaxing. It was great to relax with some amazing peeps. After lunch we ended up going snorkeling (Taylor’s first time) in water that was so merky yet FULL of sealife. Makes me excited thinking about snorkeling in Turks again!! Haha…

After the isla trip we had our normal afternoon session…which was followed by an amazing relaxing evening…nuff said there 🙂

Coed Tourney, ACE, and dwtn nightlife

So Wed (midweek) meant it was time for the coed tourney. Both me and Angela decided to play…which ended up being a total blast (with the exception of the last game, in the last match of the day…no more words are needed here…haha). Later in the day we had clinic and then the infamous game of ACE….can we say YIKES. If you were there u understand…haha. After ACE it was time to head into the city for some Ixtapa nightlife…so much fun! I always love a chance to dance on the bar…ahaha!

A Yee Haw kinda of day

So Tuesday evening was the “cowboy” attire evening (hence the title of this blog)…hahaha…Actually, the day started off with the doubles tourney in the morning. Once that ended a group of us went sailing in our off time (Andy, Kelly, and I were on one boat while Jules and Dave were on the other boat). Even though there was no wind, it was still fun (and relaxing). And I must comment on learning a rando clip that afternoon called the “doggie bounce”…haha…too funny.
