Cheri’s Bday Part 3 (the oh la la party)

Ok, so here is the third part of my sister’s on going bday bash. This time the party was at Evolve Dance Studios in LA for some pole dancing/burlesque lessons. Yea, can we say a work out? And burlesque is so freaking hard to pull off if you have never done it…it rocked (plus not only did we have a great teacher, but an amazing burlesque dancer herself, Ashley Yano). What was funny was that when we arrived everything was dark (like no one was there yet) so Cheri, Amber, and I headed up these stairs to the studio and the studio was open…so we walked inside. Literally after walking in and setting our stuff down the alarm goes off (talk about an annoyance and a shock). We totally jetted out of there and ran into our instructor walking up the stairs! Too funny!

Anyways, here are some of the pics from the evening 🙂

Cheri’s Bday part 1 (this is a 3 part series…haha)

So, for Cherbear’s bday, instead of doing a weekend away this year she decided to do different events with different friends. First up….DOWNTOWN LA….dinner on Olvera St, followed by dancing at Firecracker at Grand Star in Chinatown. Of course, I had been to Grand Star before.

It was my first time having dinner on Olvera Street (and my sis knowing how much I HEART mexican food knew I would love it).

After dinner we walked from Olvera Street to Chinatown. Hahaha….good times. When Firecracker is the promoter it becomes the best underground hip hop club in LA. VERY UNIQUE, ECLECTIC, and FUN!

A New Year…

So with the start of a new year comes the goals (which I already stated in my last post)…and then a few days later you read your goals and see if you are still sticking to them. I am happy to report I am!! Hahaha…I am running farther, pushing myself emotionally (even though it has been rough), and living. Now if I only I can keep it up through the year!! Anyways…here are a few pics from the last few days…

Fave moments of 08

So besides the pic moments, here are a couple things I won’t forget…

Probably the most amazing moment of my life (thus far): PEPPERING ON THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

Other things that 08 was amazing for…

Concerts: Spice Girls and RUSH. VERY different, but both we classic. And for everyone who is a RUSH fan…go see them next time they are on tour…AMAZING.

Flying: I got to simulate flying for my belated bday…Ifly rocked!

My Golden Girls: I was blessed to have had to opportunity to coach the 08 12 Gold team this past year. They showed me the passion of loving a sport so much and also how to have fun…

My Family: With my mom and stepdad’s 25th wedding anniversary and Rosa’s 50th bday…tons of family was involved this year 🙂

My Friends: To both my old and new friends…thank you.

A Philly (as in Phillips) Christmas

Christmas is always interesting for me and my sis, Cheri. And after seeing the movie Four Christmases, I realized that one, we have 3 families we need to see (on our own) and two, our families are amazing, considering everything (go see the movie and you will understand).

ANYWAYS…first up is the Mohr Family tradition…XMAS eve at the grandparent’s house. This year, between my grandfather’s cancer and David (and fam) in Guam, we did our best to keep up all the normal traditions.

Next up…Rossetta’s (my stepmom’s) for XMAS day. Can we say SAUCE TIME!! Rosa’s italian feast is a present in itself!! Hahaha…

And lastly…congrats to my dad and his girlfriend, Kristen, who got engaged over the Xmas break in New Mexico. 🙂

My Belated Birthday Gift

So, this past Sunday, my sis Cheri arranged for a group of the family to take me to a surprise location for my bday. Well, it turned out to be the Broadway Smash, Wicked (or so I thought)! When we got to the historic Pantages theater, we were greeted by a line of people. Little did I know that we did not have tickets yet and that we were going to put our name into a “lottery” for $25 tickets. Did I mention that there were 7 of us and the only single tickets left on sale were the $202 & $250 tickets! Hahaha…so yea…we put our names into the lottery and waited. No one from our group was called so we ended up heading over to the Universal City Walk for dinner!

We ended up eating at Camachos (since Mexican is my fave food). Nothing like a typical family dinner that involves craziness right? Hahaha…then we ventured over to the I-Fly area. I-Fly is a simulated Sky Diving machine. And since they were offering half off their rates, Cheri, Silke, and me decided that we were going to do it! Oh yea…my first step to potentially sky diving (and for those who know me well, this is a HUGE first step since I hate flying).

The flying ended up being awesome! You really had to work on relaxing, arching your back, bending/straightening your legs, and keeping your head up. Hahaha. I was not the best at this (Cheri rocked and Silke was pretty impressive too), but at least I tried!! Thank you to everyone who came and paid for the event!! It was a night I won’t forgot 🙂

You Know When You Are A Cali Girl in NYC When…

Ok, do here ya go Angela and everyone else who wanted to hear my funny story…haha

Ok, so when I arrived into the city on Tuesday I decided to take a Taxi (inside of the subway with my luggage) to Merissa’s place. She had told me what to do to get in (since she was gonna be out and her cleaning lady would be there). So I get out and go to the first door that has the buttons to push for each level. I push her’s and pull on the door and it opens. Yea. So I put my two bags in between the two doors (there is another door to get through) and then pull on the second door. So I (with the first door open the first time) to push the number from the outside again and pull on the 2nd door. No luck. The next time, I decide to go outside completely LETTING THE FIRST DOOR SHUT and push the number. Then the first door is locked….with my bags in between the two doors…and it was raining outside (and I had my carry on bag on my shoulder with a laptop and no covering from the rain). Yea. I literally pulled a huge dunce moment and sat outside for like 10 minutes…hahaha. So finally I was let in by someone and walked to her floor and knocked. No one was there…and I look behind me and up comes the cleaning lady. She had missed her train and was way late. Good times, good times. Hahaha.

Here are a few more pics from Ice Skating (Thanks Taylor)

And here is a pic I took after I wrote my blog in the Chicago Airport. It is our plane, in the snow (ice and rain…we were delayed another 30 min) before they de-iced and put that green goo on there….

The Magic Kingom

Sooo…I have been really bad about updating this blog, but will be trying to keep it current this month!! This past month we traveled to Orlando for the Dig 4 Kids Fundy weekend. It definitely was an interesting weekend! Haha…anyways, here are a few pics and a mini video of my time at the Magic Kingdom (SO NOT DISNEYLAND!).
