Mandatory Numero Uno y Dos

So I kinda fell behind on my blogging so here is one of my catch up blogs…hahaha…a combo of two weekend mandatory’s….

So the last weekend of Feb, we (14 Mizuno) traveled to SD for the first SCVA mandatory. In the pool, we had the good, the bad, and the really ugly (the reffing was HORRID). After we finished the pool (in 2nd place due to a hard, but good loss to OCVBC in 3) we played our first playoff game…and started an amazing run. We literally came out on fire and never looked back. Now, one, this was the first tourney and people are really going to gun for us…Two, Encinitas’ top team is playing in the 15’s division this year…Three, we still have a ton to work on….all GOOD things to push us going into March and April…YEA! Anyways, the girls have taken my computer and taken pics AND now my camera and taken both pics & video! Hahaha….so here they are….

The Girl’s So Grabbed My Camera!

And in the second mandatory this past weekend, we knew that we were the target of many teams…haha. This tourney, in my opinion, was MUCH harder since all the other 14’s are getting better and have nothing to lose when they play us. For the most part, we played pretty well (minus the Coast playoff match). And in the end, we WON!! We are so proud of the girls!! And of course…we have yet another mandatory this next sunday…so we will see how things go!!

Happy Valuable Day TO ME…haha

So, another Valentine’s Day has come and gone….or should I say Valuable day…haha. This year was ACTION packed actually…from Disneyland/Disney California Adventure to practice with the Beach Babes & the 14 Mizuno team to dinner at yummo Javier’s with the Katie’s. GOOD TIMES. I am going to say the cliche line, “who needs a man”, but only in jest…cause I DON’T mean it…hahaha….

The Lil Ladies in Pink (aka Beach Babes)

For those who know, I am directing a new program for Mizuno Long Beach called the Beach Babes. It is a beginner’s program that is more like a “local” program, where we have around 25 girls who practice a few times a week and 1 coach per 5-6 kids. And these youngin’s are between the ages 6-12. CO CUTE! And, for those who truly know me, know that me and Pink are NOT FRIENDS. Hahaha…but for some reason I have been truly embracing my inner pink with these girls. Pink shirts, pink back packs, pink socks, pink sweats…oh yea, those kids go all out! CLASSIC!

Anyways, we had our first tournament this past weekend (imagine 25 kids and their parents experiencing a “controlled” club tournament for the first time). For the most part, I thought it went well! The kids played well and you can definitely see the improvement already! Of course, I have some fab coaches and help (from the kids on MLB scholarship)…

1 tournament down 4 more to go….here are a few pics from the tourney…

A Goldie Night

This past weekend I was lucky enough to see some of my goldie’s from last year (and their fabulous madres)! Last season was a very special season for me, with them. Their passion and excitement for the game really sparked my own passion for the game. Between them and my assistant (a former player of mine)…yea…I missed them basically.

So we had dinner at Claim Jumper and then walked around Naples to see the lights AFTER the Xmas crowds. Good decision on our parts!! Here are a few photos…

To all my goldies….GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON!! And Cyone, I need a new rap for my blog!! HINT HINT!!

Catch Up Time!!

So….I have been really bad about blogging this past month!! AHHH! From the Hermosa AVP to my mom & stepdad’s 25th wedding anniversary to the JO’s in Dallas to recent D4K events…SO BUSY!! Hahaha! But in a good way of course! And the best part…I will have a ton more to blog about over the coming month! YEA!! 🙂 Here are a few pics from the recent activities!

So Proud of the Goldies

This shot was taken at the Huntington Beach AVP when I took the Goldies over to a few courts to watch the pro’s practice. This court had Angela Lewis (a Mizuno coach too) and Priscilla Lima practicing on it. After that shot was taken we ventured over to watch EY, Nicole, and Liz practice. What was WAY cool was they stopped and sad hi to my girls (in the middle of practice AND after I made sure the girls were quiet and just watched). And that is the AVP stars for you. LOVE IT.

Anyways, can I just gush for a moment? So this past weekend we (12-Gold) played in our last mandatory of the season (we have one more tourney left…sniff sniff)and I can honestly say that I have never been so PROUD of a team’s accomplishment (and for all my former player’s…I enjoyed coaching y’all too)! My 12 year old’s overcame a HUGE mental (not physical) challenge in the last match of the day. We only had 7 players (since 2 called that morning and were sick) for the day. To get a 12’s team to overcome anything is a feat in itself…so this was AWESOME for me to watch play out. And as a result, we won our pool and WOULD have moved into division 4 (my initial goal for the season) if we had another mandatory scheduled. 🙂 So Proud….
