Mid Week Turks action

So when you are at an exotic place for over 7 days, things start to blur together!! So I have decided to do 3 blogs about the turks…Day one you have seen, this one will be next, and My snorkling day/White night will be last…hahaha.

So the Sunday, Oct 28th was the start of the week for everyone. No “official” training started that day, but we were introduced to everyone and had some free play. This was also the day that we realized that a Tropical system (named Noel) could roll through the area. And apparently, the island where we were situated on never had a direct hit from a hurricane. So, needless to say, the weather started turning a tad bit grey. But the ironic thing about it being grey in the sky, is that the water was still absolutely breathtaking. I have never seen anything like that!

After the open play we headed back to get ready for the night’s theme. At club Med they do themed nights…the first being Jersey night. And this night was the ony night that I did not “officially” dress up. But it was awesome to see everyone supporting their fave pro teams!! Also, this was the night that Paige, JB, & Albert did the log pillow challenge, along with Ang, Al-b, Tbone, and Renee doing the singing challenge, AND Angela and Anthony doing the balloon race…the funniest thing I have ever seen in a while!

Monday brought the start of the King/Queen of the beach tournament, the start of our afternoon clinics, and gusty/rainy conditions. I did play in the Queen tourney, but can honestly say not only am I WAY out of shape, but my knee REALLY needs to be scoped. So between the fatique and pain, I was WAY frustrated. The 5 other girls in my pool were a fun group (and ironically, besides the girl who we all felt was the “best” non pro there, we had the strongest pool).

After the day’s play we headed back to get ready for Tropical night. Before we got ready I went to watch Amy do the trapeze…and right when she got up there to start swinging, can we say downpour? At least she tried! Now, I did dress up for this one. And thanks to Amy I had some cute flowers to go with the outfit. This was the night that we did the Roshambo shot game which turned into the finger up or down shot game. AND I WAS VERY HAPPY THAT I ONLY ENDED UP WITH ONE SHOT….unlike poor Katie who mist have had 5-6 shots from that game alone! And the shots, btw, were AWFUL. Hahahaa. Ahhh….the memories! Oh…and can we just talk about the flip cup madness that night! So funny to watch!

Tues brought the end of the tourney action and more afternoon clinics. Even though I made it out of my pool, I opted to not play. My knee was just painful to play on at that time, so I watched :)! I also was able to get the videocamera to start videotaping the clinics…A MAJOR WORK IN PROGRESS. Hahahaha. And after the finish of the afternoon we headed back to get ready for “dress down” night…an easy night to get ready for! Hahaha! But after that we headed back to the courts for some ACE action. I wanted to play but knew I couldn’t….so I settled for camera action!! Hahaha!

Wed was suppose to be a better day, BUT with the stalling of Tropical Storm Noel it turned out to be windy and grey. Very little rain though, so that was good! I also directed the doubles tourney (thanks to Renee and Tbone for the help the night before), which was different. Bascially I had to find a balance of the vacation element AND a true tournament element for this. And yet again I was winging things…hahaha. But for the most part it ran really smooth!!

And of course, after the clinics we headed back to get ready for Halloween! So yes, I was officially trying to be Britney Spears (and should have asked my sis for her cowboy boots but didn’t). Now I know I should have brought attachable babies too. But to be frankly honest, Halloween is not a holiday I usually go overboard on…so I was happy with what I did. And it was way fun to see everyone else in their costumes!! Straight classic!!

Thurs was the last day of the doubles tournament…which turned out to be very interesting. All it took was 2 people to screw the entire experience up. People seriously need to get over themselves when they screwed up and did not follow instruction….enough said. Besides that the day was good. The weather was trying to get better too…we did have a couple peeks of sun!

That night was the conch shack dinner, dress to impress night, and the vb hardcore exhibition…another thing I opted out of due to my knees. The Conch was gorgeous and fun as usual. Can we talk about the rum punch?! Pure Yummo! Hahaha! It was also fun to watch everyone play 6’s again…something beach players rarely do!

And before I forget I need to give props to Ken Delgado for all the photos he took this past week!! Thanks Ken!! And Nina…u rock :)! Let me rephrase that and say thanks Ken & Nina! To view ken’s website go to kendelgado.com!

Vegas, Drama, and the fear of falling from the sky

So I am a bit behind on my posts….and am working on updating!! :)! First up…VEGAS!!!

So the 2nd to last tournament this season was held in Vegas. The infamous God & Goddess Tournament held at Caesar’s Palace. It was more annoying then fun….BUT the intern Olympics and impromtu pool party was AWESOME!!

And, let’s just say….SCARIEST PLANE RIDE EVER HOME…I truely thought I was on “that plane”. BUT enough said about that!!

Beantown Baby!!!

So this past weekend I was FINALLY able to head to Boston! This is one of the few cities in America that I have not been able to travel too…but THAT IS NO MORE! And beantown did not disappoint! Of course we did have a job to do…but this might have been the best tournament of the year! SCARY!!

The night we arrived we headed to downtown on the T (there was a stop outside our hotel) to grab some dinner at the infamous CHEERS! Now, because of the sucess there are 2 cheers…the real and the set restaurant. Well, I made it to the set Cheers…but it is the thought that counts right!!! Hehehe!

The second night there was a major downer (which I really don’t want to talk about)….but Al & Denise saved the day by taking me & Carly out to eat and siteseeing! First of all, we ate at Legal’s (known for the Clam Chowder served at the last 7 inaugurations). Then it was off to site see! We drove through MIT’s campus (IT WAS HUGE….WHO KNEW?), then Harvard’s many campus’, Northeastern, Boston University, Fenway Park, etc….so amazing.

The tournament, like I said, ran pretty smooth, which rocked. But the coolest parts of the tournament were the boardwalk behind the site (so beautiful) and Dani coming with her new college team (she is a freshman at BC). I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT SHE IS A COLLEGE FRESHMAN! Sary that I coached her 3 years ago!!

After the tournament I headed back downtown and walked around. And I finally got to see the Boston Harbor! SO BEAUTIFUL! And I must say, I totally get the Nautica lifestyle! After 3 hours of wondering and sitting in the harbor I met up with my co-worker, Fitz for dinner…good times :)!

Now, I am in relaxing in Madison, New Jersey. Kristen (my HS bestie) and her hubby, Danny, live here with their adorable dog, Auggie (Doggie)…then it is off to the city…the best city in the world! NYC!

The Grand Slam of Beach Vball

So the Manhattan Beach AVP stop came and went this past weekend. This tournament is ultimately the biggest and most profiled beach tournament in the country…and the hardest tournament to get volunteers too!! So, Thurs night, I was a little bit nervous about numbers!! But, like my clinic on Thurs night, I was pleasantly surprised! Numbers were AWESOME!!

One highlight of the weekend was the Hilton party on Friday night at Shade. I came straight from the beach, but still made it this year!! Love my Hilton/PR peeps!! This weekend was also Misty’s surprise 30th bday bbq. I was glad that I was able to make it with all of her extended family! But one of my fave memories (and one of the top throughout the season…maybe right behind eating dinner in charleston) was sitting at the table with the 2 best setters of all time (MMT & Debbie Green-Vargas, who is one of the sweetest people I know) and Troy Tanner! :).

Off to Boston this weekend…followed by NYC baby!! CAN’T WAIT!

LBC ya

So last week’s AVP stop in Long Beach was actually pretty decent. One, staying at home rocked and two, IT IS MY HOME TOWN!! The site where we were located ROCKED too! Every view was amazing and the weather was amazing! What more could you ask for? Oh…the vball rocked too!! Here are some pics from the weekend….

Here are two shots off of Ken Delgado’s site…hehehe

My friend Julie. who came into town with her friend Brittany, ended up staying with me through this past Wed. So, I ended taking her to BNB, South Coast Plaza, and to a bonfire with my sister’s youth group! Hehehe!

The land of 1,000 lakes…seriously!!

So, I recently came back from the infamous Junior Olympics in Minneapolis, MN. Being it was my first time in Minnesota, I was excited to see as many cities as possible. IRONICALLY, my travel person put me up 30 minutes away from the convention center, so I saw more then the average person! Hahaha. It was awesome to see a ton of my friends who were their either coaching or recruiting. The one night I went out, I met up with some of my Mizuno coaches and some other college coaches at “the local” for the annual Molten Party. It was an early night, but a good night!! 🙂

Besides living in a gym, I got to venture through St. Paul too. From the 94 you could see the capital…which was gorgeous!! And on Sunday, before I left, I went to the infamous Mall of America!! And yes, it is MASSIVE!!! The outside lining of the Mall was pure shops (everything you could imagine). The inside was an amusement park! And below the 3 stories of shops, etc, was an underwater, underground aquarium! CRAZY!

And let’s end this blog with my miracle of a trip yesterday home! From hail & severe weather on the runway (before take off)…to the horrific takeoff (the 1st 10 minutes were HORRIBLE)…to me having 5 minutes to make my next flight, in another terminal…to getting my bags FIRST at John Wayne…CRAZY!! Hahahaha!!

Bring it on Barry…

So if you haven’t heard yet, on the first day of Hurricane season we had a tropical storm named Barry role through the AVP event in Tampa….CLASSIC! So besides the gnarly weather, things were actually ok in Tampa! Lots of work of course, but Sat night was fun with some of my fave people AND I got to spend some time with my former roomie & teammate of 3 years in college, Viv. Anyways, I get this weekend off, but am back on the road next week. Charleston is beckoning :)!!

Here are some photos from Sat night at the Green Iguana

And here are a couple of pics of me and Viv and Viv and her hubby!

South Beach, The Keys, and the first event in Miami….GRRRRR

So after Atlanta I headed down to South Florida to hang with on of my fave people…Yasmin aka Yassy! It was a great couple of days of vegging, working, and watching! From watching shows at the Theater of the Sea in the Keys to my “office space” in Key Largo to watching the Marlins with Misty, Yassy, and Butch and finally the Miami AVP stop…it definitely was a week/weekend of different emotions!

Here are some pics from the week & weekend!

Hotlanta….err Coldlanta!

Hahaha…so when you think of the Dirty Dirty South…Hotlanta always come to mind…but what happens when the temp is below zero…IN APRIL!!! Good times is what happens!

So i took Ty Loomis, Anthony Medel, & Angela Lewis to do an AVP promotion at the Big South National Qualifier. Talk about a great crew! Plus, tons of friends recruited and coaches at this tournament…so we had a ton of fun!! Here are some classic pics from that weekend!
